About Us

College life—two simple words that encompass so much. Lipscomb's Office of Student Life is at the center of how thousands of students live, play, serve and worship each day. From residence halls and organizations to chapel and campus events, our office is at the heart of what student life means at Lipscomb.

We understand, too, that a student's life isn't always easy.  Transitioning into adulthood brings significant challenges—academically and socially—and it can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. Students have different needs and might want some help along the way, which is why you can feel free to come to us anytime with questions, ideas or suggestions. However we can help you, our doors are always open. We're in the lower level of the Bennett Campus Center (Suite 100) or you can reach us at 615.966.6057.

Our Mission

The mission of Student Life is to provide exceptional, Christ-centered education outside the classroom that equips students to discover their created purpose and embrace their place in the Kingdom.

Key Values

The Seven Priorities of the Student Life Area

Faith in Jesus--we will live in relationship with God and each other under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.  We recognize that there will be times when our faith calls us to do some things that seem strange outside of the Kingdom.

God honoring relationships--we believe that relationships matter and that the way we treat our students and each other is a reflection of our relationship and trust in God.  The quality of our relationships will set our experience apart.

God honoring excellence--Jesus calls us away from mediocrity and into the life of the second mile.  Everything we do should be a reflection of our awareness that His name is associated with this institution.

Service--we will serve our students recognizing that they have paid a premium and people have made sacrifices to allow them to be here.  We will join them in serving our community simply because it is the right thing to do and because we follow one who "did not come to be served but to serve and to give."

Stewardship--because we recognize the sacrifices our parents and students make to have a Lipscomb education we will do our best to use our resources well.  While we will do things right we will always spend responsibly.

Education--we will embrace the educational mission of the institution and recognize our role as educators outside (and occasionally inside) the classroom.  Because we understand that "you cannot lead where you have not been" we will embrace the role of lifelong learners in all that we do.

Evaluation--we understand the importance of regularly assessing how we are doing and whether or not we are living our values and having the desired level of impact.  We want to make sure that the juice is always worth the squeeze.
