One of the longest running Lipscomb traditions returns to the stage of Collins Alumni Auditorium on April 5th, 6th, & 7th when the 55th production of Singarama will be performed before an audience of family, friends, and alumni. Once again, it promises to be a fun-filled night of entertainment with three original mini-musicals, written choreographed, and produced exclusively by students. The night will also be full of rich musical talent provided by six hosts and hostesses.
For weeks, freshman through seniors have been busy preparing for the big night and students that are new to Singarama have entered into a production that is cherished and respected by the upperclassman. While the show is ultimately a competition, it accomplishes the much larger goal of giving students the chance to develop their leadership skills, writing skills, musical talent, artistry, and chorography all while learning what it means to commit to something bigger than one’s self. Singarama is a true team effort and one that provides an outlet for students’ talents that may not have been utilized in their fields of study.
While providing one of the greatest college experiences a Lipscomb student can have, Singarama is more than a good time. It is a source of pride that is now generations deep. Grandparents, parents, and students are now linked by this time-honored tradition that is evident by the wide range of audience members.
It is also the source of many lifelong memories and friendships. Many students have expressed that Singarama created many of their favorite memories while at Lipscomb and strong bonds that exist well beyond college can often be traced back to this show.
The majority of the cast is involved in Greek Life, however, Singarama is open to every undergraduate student and this year’s record number of participants will include more non-Greek students than ever before.
