On Monday, Sept. 9, there will be a professional development event at Spark Cool Springs from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. The event is about campus, business and workplace violence prevention professional development and costs $295.
Workplace violence episodes, including active shooter situations, have become increasingly commonplace. There are generally two types of potential workplace violence locations – those where people think “it can’t happen here” and those who know that it can occur anywhere at any time. Such incidents can occur anywhere at any time, including; in primary and secondary schools, hospitals, manufacturing plants, white collar office buildings, college campuses, government buildings, sports and entertainment venues, places of worship, retail sales spaces and/or in public common areas.
Workplace violence and active shooter prevention requires much more than just “Run, Hide, Fight” reactive training for violent events. Assessing risks, predicting behavior, implementing mitigation steps, and preparing to manage these events and their consequences is all part of the due diligence required in today’s context of violent attacks.
